Working in the cable installation industry implies to work with different pieces of equipment that can go from a simple screwdriver to big cable drum stands used to carry cables. It also means using arc flash PPE or arc flash protection clothing as working around electric cables and electricity can be very dangerous.

Some of the equipment you may also come across is a drum cradle. This is part of the drum handling equipment you will certainly need to manipulate drum and of course use the cable on the drum.
Drum cradles and more particularly flatbed railway drum cradles are specially made to help move a drum and unroll or roll the cable around it to then use it. Those railway drum cradles have been designed to be mainly used on the rail network and when cable installation is needed around rails.

The braking system in those drum cradles includes different elements that guarantee full pressure stringing of the cable used. It is also galvanized to prevent the metal and whole structure of the cradle from rusting and being corroded by the rain for instance. It also has strong brakes to make sure the whole structure does not move on the rails while being used to install, repair or replace cables.
It also exists less advanced types of drum cradles that are only used to carry smaller drums from one place to another in a factory or a storage facility.

When used near a source of electricity, it is important, because it is made of conducting materials, to wear arc flash protection clothing even if the handles for example are usually protected by insulated plastic.
A lot of companies working in the cable installation field also use other more high tech equipment like rugged laptops and probably equipment to measure the electric intensity around a cable or a pole or even something to check if there is no problem on current cables.

Obviously, a cradle is not something you would use to carry drums. You would need a drum trailer to carry the cable drum from one point to the working area but then you would need a big cradle like one we have just talked about to put it into action, especially if the work is done on the rail network. On top of that, different other pieces of equipment would have to be used to ensure of a well done and safe job.

So you want to buy a knife but you are not sure if you want to buy a pocketknife or a folding knife.  What is the difference anyway – don’t they both fold??  Well, yes – that is true, but there are differences.

Pocket Knife – According to Wikipedia, “a pocketknife is a folding knife with a blade that fits inside the handle and that is small enough to fit in a pocket.”  Most modern pocketknives are for light duty – and are a convenient tool for those many little tasks you might run into when other knives are not handy. Pocket knives have blades that are held in place – open or shut – by a spring mechanism, allowing the user to open and shut the blade easily.  Pocketknives come with single or multiple blades and some have additional tools and even forks and spoons – many options depending on your purpose.  One drawback to this type of pocketknife – since the blade does not lock open, it can be closed inadvertently.

A Folding Knife, on the other hand, is usually a little bigger, stronger, and has some sort of locking mechanism to hold the blade open. Because of this added strength, they can handle heavier duty tasks.  But since they are bigger, they are normally carried in sheaths, not in the pocket.  This locking mechanism makes the folding knives a little safer because the lock prevents the blade from accidentally being closed.  These knives come in many styles and usually have only one blade.

Before you buy a knife, you should check local knife carry laws.  Most pocketknives are legal to carry (except in places like courthouses, schools, etc).  Whether a knife is “legal” to carry is usually determined by blade length – from my limited research, knives with blades of less than 3 ½ – 4 inches are usually legal – but do check your local laws.

IN SUMMARY – A small personal knife is a valuable tool that has many uses – I actually carry two most of the time – no matter what purpose you have for a knife I know there is a knife just for that purpose – whether it is a pocket knife or folding knife – the choice is virtually endless – enjoy the shopping – find the right knife for you – buy it – and take care of your knife so it will serve you for many years.

Toboggan is a type of sled that is previously used as a form of transport. Today, it still prevails as a mode of transport but more commonly used for recreational purposes. It is designed to sit one or more people, and is used on snowy slopes to carry people down the slopes. It is good to invest in quality ones so that you and your family or friends can enjoy it together. Some of the types available today are built from different materials. Some are handcrafted while others are made of high quality plastic.

This sled is equally enjoyed by children and adult alike. It is an enjoyable past time to ride it during winter. It is even transformed into a type of sport today, and competitions are commonly organized to enable toboggan riders to pitch their skill against one another. For this, sports sleds are designed. A good sled should be easily assembled. If it requires a complicated assembly process, then the parts may also disintegrate easily when rode upon after a few times. It should be easy to carry because you may have to carry it all the way up to a hill top before you can use it. Most importantly, it should not glitch uneasily against snow. This affects your riding experience and may even pose danger to your overall safety and that of your passengers.

No matter the type of material used for the sled, you should ensure that it is of the topmost quality. No aspect should be compromised because doing so will put you in danger. There are also various ways to sit on a toboggan depending on the design.

Whether for recreational, transportation or sports purpose, your sledding interest will be fun and interesting when you choose the right sled for yourself. Consider the difference in the range of price and material finishing before you make your decision.

A travel pillow is a pillow which is designed to be carried while traveling. Some people carry travel pillows for the purpose of making trips on public transit more comfortable, while others carry along a personal pillow to ensure that they have the comfort and support they need while sleeping in a strange place. Campers and hikers may also stick travel pillows in their bags for comfort while sleeping. Travel stores often stock travel pillows in a variety of designs, and it is also possible to use a generic pillow as a travel pillow.

Pillows designed for travel are usually travel-sized, meaning that they are small or that they can be compressed, folded, or broken down in some way so that they take up a minimum of space. A classic type of travel pillow is an airplane pillow, which provides support to the head and neck for people who want to sleep on planes. Many airplane pillows are c or u-shaped, ensuring that the head and neck are not contorted while someone attempts to sleep in an airplane seat.

While a travel pillow may be filled with a stuffing which can vary from firm to soft, many companies make inflatable travel pillows. Inflatable pillows are very convenient because they can be deflated and folded down to a very compact size which fits easily in a purse or carryon. The inflatable pillow can usually be blown up with the use of a small nozzle along the side of the pillow, and some are designed to be fitted to a pump for rapid inflation. For people who like to carry full sized pillows while traveling, an inflatable pillow can be very useful.

Other people adopt a regular pillow from home as a travel pillow. Some people are very attached to specific pillows because they provide an ideal level of comfort and support, or because they like to have something from home when they are in an unfamiliar place. A pillow from home may not be designed as a travel pillow, so it tends to be oversized and cumbersome, but some people feel that the inconvenience is worth having the perfect pillow when it is needed.

In the case of a specialized travel pillow which is purchased before traveling, it is a good idea to test the pillow out first to make sure that it is comfortable and easy to handle. If the pillow is being taken as a carryon item in luggage for a plane, the luggage should be brought to the store to confirm that the pillow will fit inside. Travel pillows can also be strapped to luggage and backpacks in some cases, in the event that they will not fit in luggage.

Although briefcases have come along way, from the fourteenth century “budget” to the more modern metal framed briefcase, their use has remained relatively the same. Briefcases are used to carry items important to the person using it. A “budget” was most often used for carrying money and valuables. The modern day briefcase is used for carrying anything from attorney briefs to laptops. There are even briefcases big enough to carry a 13 inch 12 volt television.

Businessmen are most commonly thought of for carrying briefcases. With more women having careers outside of the house and students taking their laptops to class with them, it’s common to see a briefcase just about anywhere. With this new trend the briefcase has also evolved to meet the many needs of modern people. There are aluminum briefcases which are usually used for security purposes. They often come with some type of locking device to secure the items in it. When security is less of an issue there are many different briefcases to choose from. There are soft sided, hard sided, expandable briefcases, and briefcases with dividers. The list goes on when getting into the different designers offering briefcases as well.

The color of a briefcase is often less important than the style, but not so unimportant to overlook it completely. With briefcases being used by people other than business professionals, and being used to carry things that are not work related, they are now offered in many different colors. The briefcase can now show some of the carrier’s personality by purchasing the bold pink briefcase now offered, or choosing something more subtle but still eye catching such as red or green. When it comes to business, the more traditional briefcase colors still dominate. A professional silver aluminum briefcase gives the impression that you mean serious business. Even a brown leather-like briefcase or soft-sided black briefcase shows business with a less intimidating manner.

Whatever the color or style of a briefcase, they continue to be popular and handy. More and more people find different uses for a briefcase that fit their own personal needs. Whether using it to carry important documents, or using it to transport a 12 volt television, briefcase use is on the rise. And with the prices ranging from affordable to the more expensive designer briefcases, there are briefcases in almost everyone’s price range.
