Nappies is the british diapers lol :-)
Oh you forgot a baby bath… I’ve still to get mine too.
Also, you mentioned wipes… do you have cotton wool too? I don’t know if its different elsewhere, but in Scotland our midwife said that its best to clean a newborns bum with cotton wool and water only because they are still sensitive.

What I did was go to babiesrus.com and they have a checklist at the top with everything you could every possibly have for a baby. I’ve got bouncers, playstations, swings, walkers, playards, all kinds of things picked out. That checklist on there was so convenient and helped me think of everything I want to get for baby.

Mylicon Drops are good for when the baby gets gassy, also if you live where it is cold they sale these car seat covers that I bought for my last one and it was amazing anytime we went out we would just zip it up and it had a hole where the head is, here is a website to show you what one looks likehttp://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp…

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention a baby monitor. Get the video kind. My son is almost 3 and I still use it for nap and bedtime. I’m 38 weeks pregnant and just ordered a new one where I can use one receiver with a video screen and have 2 cameras (one in each child’s room). It also has the feature of pan/tilt. http://www.4ucam.com is where I ordered it. Works great!

  • Chrissy says:

You need to stock up on diapers.
Do you have a crib or a bassenet for the baby to sleep in?
You may want to consider a baby swing too because it always help my babies fall asleep easy, plus it’s kinda something for them to do while you cook or clean.
    Hopes this helps!

  • WaitingO says:

Plenty of baby blankets and baby bedding and a baby monitor, nappy sacks are great too to put soiled nappies in, baby bubble bath and shampoo for when baby’s older. We found blankets great as we swaddled Ethan up and he slept alot better like this Xx

  • Ethan's mummy says:

Oh my word Laula that’s more than I had at your stage lol!
The most useful item i’ve found i’ve got is a bouncer. Lilly can come from room to room with me if i’m cleaning, and it keeps her amused while doing so. xxxxx

  • sammyyy ♥ says:

You can probably stock up on a few diapers…..Congrats

  • baby on way says:

what about the most importiant things! dummys!

  • Krisna S says:

here are some things I suggest that will make your life as a new mother much, much easier!…
Light stretchy blankets for swaddling or swaddlers and a white noise machine or womb sounds bear.
    >Babies are used to being wrapped tight in your womb with noise 24/7. Being loosely covered and in a quiet environment drives them nuts! Make your baby feel at home and he/she will sleep much better!
    A Bouncer/Infant Seat
    >These are just nice to have in case you need to put baby down for a little but while you get something done, like preparing a bottle or making something to eat! My kids loved to nap in their bouncer chairs, they look really comfy!
But other than that…I think you have a great list! Good luck to you! :)

  • Busy Mommy of 3 says:

    Hey laula =)
You will also need breastpads and I highly recommend maternity mats (from boots or mothercare) for the days after the birth to protect your mattress. You will still need a steriliser incase you need to give baby boiled water etc or if breastfeeding doesn’t go to plan or you choose to mix both breast and bottle.
At the moment there’s an offer on in Asda for a Johnsons baby essential box for £10. It’s a nappy changing box with loads of johnsons products in to get you started…the average nappy box costs around £10 so a bargain!
Other things you may need :
    Moses basket
    Pram/cot sheets
Sanitary towels (LOTS of them lol)
Baby bath (although I have bought the baby deluxe bather from argos too..gonna make things a lot easier)
    Travel cot
    Changing bag
    Parasol
    Changing mat
    Bouncer
    For later on :
    Highchair
    Walker
    Hope this helps =)

I got the mothercare brochure which has the check list in it, alot you dont need, they just want you to but their stuff but I found it usefull!
    Blankets
Breast pump? I got one as intend to breast feed, yet my hubby wants to able to feed baby during night to help out.
    Cot/moses basket.
We have just got the basics of what a baby would need and anything extra we’ll buy when/if we need it.
I think you have mentioned everything else. I have got almost all of it, except a puchchair?!?! I really cant find a nice travel system I like, most are really heavy?!
Oh and my I say a massive congrads to you on the pregnancy hun x

  • Mrs Lexi Mansell says:

What a great topic! I’m going to keep an eye on this since I’m 17 weeks with our first and a list like this is always helpful for us first-timers!
What about a breast pump? For the times when you may be away from the baby when it’s feeding time.
A glider rocker or rocking chair (preferably with foot stool) for when you nurse the baby and for cuddle time (which I think will be all the time! lol)
Edit: I thought about this the other day on my way home from work lol. I don’t know if you have any stairs where you live, but when the baby becomes mobile you’ll need baby gates and also plugs to put in open outlets and latches/locks for cupboards and drawers.
